Prologue
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Benevolent.
Or is it:
In the name of Allah, the Murderous, the Violent?
Is that how your Koran begins?
My version differs from yours.
Stop! In the name of your Lord
who created each life
from a precious strand of blood.
Stop! with your sharpened knives,
and your cocked guns,
your improvised explosives…
desist from violating the sanctity of life
to satiate your inane desires.
Each drop taints the earth,
yet you hear it not howl in pain
amidst the rage
fueled by misguided voices
that rings in your ears,
fogs up your mind,
that has shriveled up your heart.
Stop! In the name of your Lord
Stop your brutish ways!
Your actions merely worsen
the plight of your kindred folk,
already embattled and cornered,
by pitting the world against them
with your foolish indiscretion.
You leave the world a far worse place
than it was before.
Your selfish myopia,
we vehemently abhor.
Stop! In the name of your Lord
Stop you murderous villains!
For that is what you are
no matter how you mince your words,
you who commit these acts of murder!
There is no hero’s death for you
nor a reward awaiting your ascension.
For you shall only descend
into the cold, dark earth
far below…
where worms will gouge on your flesh
in the final resting place of your pitiful existence
until no trace of you shall remain…
God willing.
